Guest guest
We were hoping yesterday's alarm was false alarm, but it was not: the killing of dogs continues. Now they have repaired their own catching-vehicle and none of the higher authorities successfully intervened... none of the half-hearted promises to help, has been followed up by effective action. Anyhow we keep trying our best and appreciate any help. Letters keep arriving from various countries directed to the Minister and to Dr.Jayasinghe, who obviously couldn't care less, but the Minister may eventually take notice. As Kim pointed out in an e-mail today: he can't promise a humane policy for the whole of Sri Lanka and at the same time ignore that the only humane programme, which was functioning in Sri Lanka up to now, is destroyed in such a criminal way. Hope to have better news tomorrow. Padma
Guest guest
Padma, but can you give us all once again the exact postal addresses to write to (and if any emails). It would be good for the purposes of this list to have email threads where people just coming in could see the progress (and lack there of) on important issues, such as this one. So people can write again, or those who have not written can write for the first time. Are there other lists people can post on to get a larger campaign going (maybe there is one I am not informed). Are there any news articles that could be posted along with the emails to the lists? In the USA we can see how the constant barrage of our writing and phoning is making a difference for the Katrina animals, so let's get it going towards an end of cruelty in sight in Kandy because as you say: the Minister may eventually take notice.
