Rescued lions and a tiger brought from Kerala:

Tirupati, Aug 31 : Nineteen lions, three of them male and a tiger, rescued from a

circus in Kerala were brought to Sri Venkateswara zoological park here today.

According to the curator of the zoo, Mr Parthasaraty, with the arrival of the 19

lions, the lion population in the Animal Rescue Centre(ARC) in the zoo has gone

up to 65 Already there is one leopard in the centre, he told UNI.

Senior veterinarian of Kerala Forest Department Dr E K Easwaran, who accompanied

the rescued animals from Kerala, told UNI that the Jumbo circus company was

taking care of the animals in their coffee estate at Waynad for the past seven

years and with their cooperation only the animals were brought here.
