According to the curator of the zoo, Mr Parthasaraty, with the arrival of the 19 lions, the lion population in the Animal Rescue Centre(ARC) in the zoo has gone up to 65 Already there is one leopard in the centre, he told UNI. Senior veterinarian of Kerala Forest Department Dr E K Easwaran, who accompanied the rescued animals from Kerala, told UNI that the Jumbo circus company was taking care of the animals in their coffee estate at Waynad for the past seven years and with their cooperation only the animals were brought here.
