Guest guest
Dear Sir, My name is Maria and I come from the distant Greece. I happened to hear during the last few days about the horrific Bullock Cart/ Horse cart Races held in your country. It seems it is an extraordinary violent and bloody " sport " which causes unspeakable pain to animals taking part and puts in danger also the spectators as well as the contestants. I must admit it is a surprise to me that such an outrageous event is taking place in your country. I know that India carries a long history and tradition dominated by the respect towards animals especially cattles and that your religion preaches love towards all forms of life, as coexisting peacefully with other creatures is life's perfection. Apart from the ethical part of the matter which is extremely important, however, there are severe " material " reasons the races should be banned for: Allowing such events happening is making several tourists that love animals to change their minds about visiting your country. And the most important: Permitting any kind of abuse towards animals offers a very bad example to our children. If they don't learn to respect animals and other forms of life, it is very likely that they won't respect or help human beings too; especially the ones in need of help. It is essential to teach our children and society to help and protect animals instead of killing and torturing them. What will our world be like tomorrow, without animals, forests and all gifts that nature so generously offered us? Actually, protecting nature and all its creatures instead of destroying them proves human " superiority " upon other forms of life. Please stop this cruelty. The Court has already decided to halt the races. However some local political people still insist on the race to take place for their own selfish reasons. But any human supporting this kind of cruelty in order to gain money or reputation or for any other reason does not deserve either our attention or to call himself a human being. Thank you for taking the time to consider my arguments. Sincerely yours, Maria, Greece
