Guest guest
The Sentinel, Guwahati, 10 Aug 2005. Rhino killed in KNP Jorhat: Poachers killed a rhino in the Kaziranga National Park (KNP) last night and stole the precious horn of the animal. KNP Director N.K. Vasu told PTI here from the park that the female rhino was slain in the Bagori range by poachers. PTI P.S: Just for the information of AAPN members, a 27 year old male Rhino was saved from being electrocuted in what some believe the most safe zone in assam for Rhinos---- the Assam State Zoo a week back. The Rhino got frightned on finding strangers next to itsenclosure inside the Zoo in the middle of the night. It started to thump on the ground, and running around. This alerted the keepers and a police patrol...which came to the rescue of the animals. The miscreants fled leaving behind an axe, and electric wires which they brought in to electrocute the animals first and thereafter chop of the horn. And yesterday we lost another rhino.
