Guest guest
Dear all, This came through my inbox this morning and I thought it would maybe be of interest to some. I don't know anything about the award, so please don't reply to me, but I think you can look at the NFWF website for more info. Nicole. --------------- Save The Tiger Fund Issues Request for Proposals Deadline: December 1, 2005 The Save The Tiger Fund ( http://www.nfwf.org/programs/stf.htm ), a partnership of the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation, the ExxonMobil Foundation, and the Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund, invests in a variety of projects that increase cooperation and communication, build local leader- ship, and deliver effective on-the-ground conservation to tigers in human-dominated landscapes. STF supports tiger conservation projects across tigers' range, in the U.S., and in Europe. Applications to STF should demonstrate conservation need and anticipated benefits to wild tiger populations; improved management/protection of occupied and/or suitable tiger habitats; enhanced prey protection measures for in situ efforts; substantive cooperation and coordination with other conservation organizations; integration of tiger-range governments and local communities into the project; capacity building among local organizations and government staff; lack of duplication and conflict with other ongoing conservation efforts; methods for resolving conflicts between tiger conservation and the livelihood of surrounding communities; an understanding of and strategy for integrating the specific project into the larger context of the broad conservation needs/goals of the relevant tiger landscape; appropriate qualifications and strong track record of staff; integration of program monitoring and evaluation; and ability to use an STF grant to leverage additional resources. STF does not require pre-proposals but encourages appli- cants to submit a brief email or letter notifying the fund of their intent to submit a project proposal. Visit the NFWF Web site for complete program guidelines and an application form.
