Guest guest
I sent the following email to Mr. Robinson and the Disney officials below after reading about the removal of dogs from Disney HK --------------------- Mr.Robinson I am writing to express my dismay at the way your company dealt with the stray dogs at the Disney theme park in Hong Kong. While I understand the dogs could not be left to roam the park, you did not deal with this issue properly. You offloaded the problem onto the government, then you tried to shift blame and responsibility by saying " What the government is doing is in line with its policies. " What about your policies? You say you are " committed to being a responsible member of the Hong Kong community and this is reflected in the manner in which we operate. " Is the way the dogs were dealt with a reflection on the way you operate? Is it responsible to deal with problems in the cheapest, easiest way possible? Is it responsible to attempt to offload blame? From the figures I have read, there were some dozens of dogs, perhaps 40. That is not many. The dogs were also already tame, used to humans and being fed by them. There are animal welfare organizations in HK who would have helped you deal with this issue properly. Disney has made a lot of money through the years by portraying dogs in cartoons and films. You can't use animals to promote an animal and family friendly image, then act like this. Your spokesperson is now saying the company has been in contact with an animal welfare group about the dog issue and will continue to work with the group. That's good, but it's too late for the unfortunate 40 dead dogs.
