Guest guest Posted July 17, 2005 Report Share Posted July 17, 2005 Three trucks carrying 81 Buffaloes/calves were intercepted by Public under jurisdiction of Salem tabri Police Station and Basti Jodhewal Ludhiana, Police Station on 16th night. Trucks were heading towards Saharanpur in UP.on getting information we reached at site public ransacked the trucks. We unloaded the animals and found that more than forty were dead and many seriously injured. Treatment, fodder and water was provided by People For Animals Organisation.The police has been asked to register the case for violations, under Sec.429 IPC and sec 11 a, d, e, h, l of Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act 1960,Transport of Animals Rules 1978,Sec.96 of transport of Cattle Rules 2001, against traders, drivers and owners of trucks.These were to be taken for slaughter. The injured animals have been shifted to People For Animals’s Shelter and hospital (Jeev Kalyan Kendra & Bhagwan Mahavir Abhayshala,Rahon Road Ludhiana) and rest of animals are also taken on supuraddari for their upkeep and maintenance .
