There was a presentation " Dying for Fur - An overview of Chinese Fur Farming " by EAST International at the Asia for Animals Conference. The campaign footage was also screened at the Care for the Wild Booth. Unfortunately during the general meeting, nobody raised a resolution with regard to fur farming. As such, no resoultion was adopted. We are unable to adopt a resolution now as passing resolutions requires a meeting where the majority of the delegates have to be present. I'm sure that the delegates attending the conference are all concerned about the cruelty associated with Chinese fur farms. Many of the groups that attended the conference are also focusing on this very important issue. Once again, thank you for your comments. It is very encouraging that many of the groups that attended the conference are focusing on the very important issue of fur farms. However, I still can't understand how happened that while so many people had opinions and mayde activities on this tragic matter, there was no relevant resolution adopted by the meeting. It seems to me totally irrational the fact that people's worrying about and opposition to such a severe issue was not even noted to general meeting's resolutions. A topic like " Commit the countries (eg. US and EU) involved in purchasing furs from Asia to cease such activities (EU is the biggest consumer of furs nowadays) " would be more than necessary, I believe. We must all become parts of the international effort to close down fur farms and stop the brutalities towards animals in fashion's, cosmetics' or medicine's sake. As far as I know, there are no laws banning fur farms or protecting animals in China and maybe other countries. Thus, I comprehend that it will be a hard fight. But we have to stand up for animals' rights, no matter what. For those not persuaded, please watch the " Dying for fur " video or the relative photos at the website of Care for the Wild and pay extra attention to these animals' eyes while they are being skinned alive or tortured to death. It is our debt to do our best to save and protect them. Let's all help to save our vulnerable friends every way each of us can!!
