Dear Kim and Merritt,

I have had to cut short my field visit due to the shocking and

outrageous decision by the Government of Kenya to export 300 Kenya's

free ranging animals to Chiang Mai Zoo in Thailand. I believe this

decision can be reversed. Majority of the people of Kenya,

particularly the local communities living with wildlife are against

it and can touch the heart of the president and change the

circumstance as they did with the disastrous G.G. Kariuki bill last

year. We however need mobilization resources urgently. Please do

whatever you can to help because if we lose this one, an unspeakable

precedence for animal welfare in Kenya will be set. The converse is

also true. It is indeed now, more that ever before that Youth for

Conservation needs international animal welfare support. Youth for

Conservation will work with her 16 partner organizations in the Kenya

Coalition for Wildlife Conservation and Management.

Thank you.

Appeal to the president His Excellency, The Hon. Emilio Mwai Kibaki

to REVERSE the Decision announced by the Minister for Tourism and

Wildlife to Export the 300 Kenya's animals to Thailand failure to

which Tourists will boycott coming to Kenya. The President of the

Republic of Kenya is the ONLY ONE who can STOP this NOW! Demand a

complete stop to capture and sending of free ranging animals into zoo

captivity and ask that Kenya must restrain from tainting its superb

and attractive conservation/animal welfare record through this

unreasonable and callous act.
