FROM THE DESK OF HONY. GEN. SECRETARY: Dear Friends of Animals, I am very happy to write you that PAWS Trustee Ms. Brinda Upadhyaya has given her Van to PAWS Mumbai team recently. These will double our rescue work. We thank her for giving the van to use. Thanks to Fizzah Shah & Bhavin Ghatani who helped us in getting the van. This will be used for sterilization of strays in central suburb’s like Bhandup, Mulund. & Thane. Now this is 2nd ambulance, which we are running under the name of PAWS. Our PAWS Dombivli van is very old now & gives lot of maintenance. We request our readers to provide the information if anybody wants to donate used / old vehicle. We will surely paint the name of donor on vehicle. ……………………………………………………………………………… 2. VISIT TO FRIENDS OF SNAKES CONFERENCE: PAWS team members comprising Nilesh Bhanage; Sunish Subramaniyan & Vishal Kantharia visited the ‘Friends of Snakes’ conference orgnised by Mr. Nilim Kumar Khaire’s ‘Indian Herpetological Society’ in Bharti Vidyapith – Pune. on 5th of June 2005. The Vets of Mr. Khaire’s Wildlife rescue & Rehabilitation center gave brief description on treatment, care of snakes. The Conference was very informative and from all over Maharshtra state, snake rescuers attended the conference. ……………………………………………………………………………… 3. VISIT TO UTTARA’S ARK: Mr. Nilim Kumar Khaire is running a Wildlife Rescue & Rehabilitation center past many years. We get the chance to go inside the center & learned many things. The name of the center is ‘UTTARA’S ARK’. The center is located next to Pune Zoo & Pune Snake Park. & Rescue van is there. Kitchen & Surgical Room, OPD section is nicely developed & maintained in Center. We at PAWS wish Mr. Khaire a best Luck in future. ………………………………………………………………………………….. 4. DONATION RECEIVED IN KIND: We circulated the E-mail to our recipients to help us in donating the used or Second hand mobile phone sets to be given to the Ambulance driver. We kept one phone for PAWS use & second phone, which we got – donated to Thane SPCA. They will use for their ambulance. We thank you below Donors for their kind help! DONKEY VACCINATION CAMP: PAWS young team organized the Donkey Vaccination Camp in city of Kalyan. We received information from our supporters that several donkeys are employed at Kalyan Railway Yard. So we decided to hold a treatment camp cum Tetanus vaccination camp on 19th June 2005 for the beast of burden. PAWS team including Sonali Bagde, Vishal Kantharia, Nilesh Bhanage, Mousumi Mehendale, ShivPrasad Phadke were participated in the program. All the donkeys are vaccinated against Tetanus & also our young team treats some wounds. Do inform us on 9820161114 (Nilesh) or 9869376238 (Anuradha) on if you see donkeys employed at any trackside, civil works! We will hold camp there & treat the animals! ……………………………………………………………….. 6. ANTI-RABIES VACCINATION CAMP IN KALYAN: PAWS elder volunteer Shri Sudhakar Chincholkar looks after 60 stray dogs in his colony. He has already adopted 7 Stray dogs at his residence. PAWS team of Sonali, Vishal, Nilesh, Mousumi, ShivPrasad, Bhartesh attended the camp. All the stray Dog in his Jimmi Baug colony were vaccinated against Rabies. We thank Hindi Newspaper ‘NAVBHARAT’ who published the Photo of camp in their paper on 19th June 2005. …………………………………………………………………………………… 7. MEDICINES DISTRIBUTION TO VOLUNTEERS: Since we received some donation for Medinces from few donors, so we decided to purchase the medicines & make some first aid kits & distribute it our rescuers. Under this scheme, we distributed medicines to our volunteers below mentioned in past three months.
