Guest guest
The below is from TIBETANS FOR A VEGETARIAN SOCIETY (T4VS) For A Healthier, Happier, And More Humane World (T4VS does not have a web site yet but do a search and you can find some articles about them on other sites) A BIRTHDAY GIFT FOR KUNDUN Dear All, Please join a campaign to celebrate the 70th birthday of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama with the compassionate and sensible choice of vegetarian/vegan food along with prayers for the long life of His Holiness and well - being of all sentient beings. With reverence for all forms of life, and compassionate desire to do good for others, this is the best gift we all can offer on this sacred day to the Nobel laureate, champion advocate of universal peace and compassion. Let us shed obsolete ways of celebration marred with the lives of helpless innocent animals that we must help and protect, not exploit and eat. Instead let's introduce a better alternative plant based diet that is enriched with fresh variety of vegetables, fruits, legumes, and grains. Such foods are highly nutritious and truly desired in accordance with the sanctity of the occasion. As for a Buddhist, compassion and loving-kindness form the core teachings of our Buddha dharma and so hence it is a fitting tribute, a perfect gift that matters and is always within our reach. Dear brothers and sisters world-wide, whether you are vegetarian or non-vegetarian, Tibetan or non-Tibetan, please make this birthday gift for His Holiness a reality.
