Some end up as strays, teased by mischievous children, tortured by cruel adults. Report after report has been made about how “dangerous” they are but are they able to tell their side of the story? Are they given a chance to defend themselves? Our canine heroes have been beaten and even killed by humans, but do they complain? Are they able to share the pain they felt? Some serve in the police force to help fight crime, join search and rescue teams to save lives, and work in mines, exposing themselves to danger. Do they get any awards for risking their lives? One wonders why only the “problem cases” get media attention. But what about all the good done by their canine counterparts? It makes many canine lovers shed tears for their heroes. Let us not forget that humans err and so will any living creature in this world. But let us not look at only their mistakes but let us highlight their greatest deeds and bravery which can put some humans to shame.
