Guest guest
Urgent! Help Needed to Stop Export of Taiji Dolphins Taiji, internationally infamous town of cruel whaling and dolphin drive hunt, is planning to sell eight newly-captured bottlenose dolphins to an aquarium in Dalian, China. Taiji Town Council adopted this decision with a majority vote on March 15 and the application for this export permit has already been submitted to the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry. As of March 22, the permit had apparently not been issued yet, but it seems as if the export is going to be permitted. Taiji Town officials claim that the dolphins will be sold under " Academic Exchange Program " , but according to the Mainichi Newspaper dated March 15, those dolphins will be sold at approximately 42 million yen (more than 400,000 US dollars) and the money will go to the whale museum/aquarium, which has been having financial problems, that is run by the town. It is obvious that those dolphins, who were captured by inhumane drive hunt last autumn, will be sold for the town's financial gain. Please take a moment to send e-mails and/or faxes to below. Your letters can be short and brief. But they need to hear from as many people and groups as possible.
