Russian circus allowed to feature animals

 

[india News]: Mumbai, March 18 : After a gap of

several years, residents of this city will be treated

to a performance by animals at a circus, something

that was hitherto banned by the government.

On Thursday, the Bombay High Court stayed the

enforcement of the ban on the Russian state circus

company Rosgoscirk, currently touring Mumbai.

The Bombay High Court has vacated the stay on

performances by animals in the Russian State Circus

Company Rosgoscirk (RSCC), which is currently touring

the city.

 

The stay acquired by animal rights activists on

performances of animals like sea lions, cats and

Eskimo dogs in the circus, was vacated yesterday.

 

The RSCC had opposed the stay stating that the

regulations on performing animals was applicable to

Indian circuses and not to touring foreign circuses, a

RSCC spokesperson said.
