Guest guest
A paediatrician in Sri lanka has sent me the following information yesterday . She told me that the following death was reported in a Sinhala Newspaper and the people who have children were panicked and they have given up keeping dogs as pets. She was having a difficult time answering the parents whose children were bitten by dogs .She has sent the information to a human rabies expert but still didn`t get a reply. In November 2004 a youth named Pushpakumara from Beruwela was getting treatment for severe back pain . But the doctors couldn`t diagnosed the cause for that pain. Then he had severe back pain and fever .His father has taken him to Nagoda Hospital. There was no progress and after 3 days his condition became worse. The doctor asked whether he was bitten by a dog.The youth replied saying that 10 years ago he was bitten by his petdog. He didn`t get any treatment for that . After 3 days the behaviour of the youth changed and he tried to attack the people .He was trying to bite the people. They had to tie him in his bed . The coroner has mentioned that he suspect the cause of death is rabies. Kala Santha
Guest guest
This case does not sound to be true. Perhaps someone else could comment on how a person infected by rabies reacts. - " K.santha " <santhak <aapn > Cc: <IAIE > Sunday, March 06, 2005 11:41 AM A person died 10 years after the dog bite.
