Guest guest
Call Goes Out To Adopt Feline Tsunami Survivors http://www.theomahachannel.com/family/4206829/detail.html BANGKOK, Thailand -- An animal relief organization in Thailand is looking for homes for feline tsunami victims plucked from a resort island. The Thai Animal Guardians Association http://www.thaiaga.org/Eng_index.htm helped arrange the rescue of 116 cats, many weakened by hunger and thirst, from the resort island of Phi Phi. About 80 cats survived and have been vaccinated and sterilized. But the agency says if new homes can't be found the cats may be sent back to where they were found on the island about 350 miles south of Bangkok. Some of the animals were discovered in ruined homes, and others were turned over by the police. Their owners were believed to be missing and presumed dead. Even as animal welfare officials are looking for new owners for the stray cats they have, the association is planning more rescues on the island.
