Dear friends, Visakha SPCA has visited every tsunami affected village along

the Andhra Pradesh coastline (600 kms. and five districts). Please visit

www.ahimsatx.org/vspca to see our past reports (now online with many thanks to

our web site volunteer Ms. Laura Black).

Photo on right: Ramayapeta village. We rescued this mother dogs with her pups.

She had taken refuge at the temple premises (these small outdoor temples are

found in all Indian villages) which seemed to be the only safe place left for

them.

Above: Ramayapeta village was identified for continuing

relief camps. Here our volunteer Ramu is rescuing an eager dog.

Uluaplem village -- the bridge stands between the village and the ocean. All

the fishing people and grazing animals were forced to move towards the beach.

Our team provided all the help in feed and medicnes to all the animals such as

goats, cattle and stray dogs.

The lone half hut remains at the Sinarakonda village. Our volunteer animal

helper is seen standing outside the hut where our makeshift camp was made for

the surviving animals.

Right: Our team together at Maipadu village after concluding

the medical camp. Dr.Madivilatha -- vet, Srinivas --- animal helper, SK Saheb

and other member volunteers.

Left: Unable to reach by fourwheelers our team made adjustments with

two and three wheelers and even by walking. This is one of the autos hired to

reach Maipadu village.

Right and below: The former thriving coastline village seems now like a desert

with the lone hut still remaining bravely which we used to help the people's

animals.

saved by these coconut trees that blocked the intensity

of the rushing waves. Preservation Left and above: Would like to point out

that this village has been saved by these coconut trees. There were many other

reports of the importance of natural mangroves and other saplings protecting

from the tsunami's wrath see:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/south_asia/4269847.stm

Left: Back at the shelter an ABC (Animal Birth Control -- spay/neuter and

rabies vaccinations) dog awaiting release back to his community after operation.

VSPCA is bringing back up to 30 dogs a day from nearby villages (up to 30 kms.

radius) for birth control surgery and rabies vaccinations.

But now the long term relationship has begun for villages all along the Andhra

Pradesh coast. We would like to continue to reach all the villages along the

entire 600 kms that we had visited to do ABC, medical camps and encourage locals

to setup animal welfare organisations. For that we badly need another vehicle

and suitable staff. We solicit everyone's help and advice.

Your help is kindly requested for our continuing efforts. To reach these

isolated villages we particularly need funds to buy a vehicle for mobile ABC.
