Guest guest
Wonder if anyone knows anything about this place that permits tourists to kiss and cuddle 3 month old orangutans ( and why they HAVE three month old orangutans)? http://www.sunstar.com.ph/static/dav/2005/02/21/life/falling.for.carlo. & .vivian.\ html Monday, February 21, 2005 Falling for Carlo & Vivian By Jojie Alcantara Witerary I WAS told Carlo and Vivian are the lead roles in the latest Korean telenovela hit to invade the country. " Lovers in Paris " became a household word to Dabawenyos who are glued to the screen nightly on its scheduled airing. But I was not referring to this TV series, though. I meant the real couple who were christened Carlo and Vivian after the popular show. These are the baby orangutans I fell in love with when Rhonson, Ian and I visited the new Davao Crocodile Park along Diversion Highway, Barangay Ma-a Road. Upon the invitation of owners Sonny and Jackie Dizon, we were brought to the famous tourist attraction within the Riverfront Business Park, which is undergoing massive reconstruction. This meant more leisure attractions and recreational areas to look forward to. While tourists flocked to Crocodile Park to see the popular Pangil, biggest crocodile in captivity by far, the place is now teemed with interesting new characters. There are the regular two huge, friendly pythons (the other one is named Boloy) you can touch and, together with your friends, carry on your shoulders if you don't have a fear of being playfully choked. Birds, parrots, ostriches and eagles are in their cages. Two new baby albino snakes are showcased in their attractive, glowing yellow skin. Sonny and Jackie graciously took us around the Riverfront Business Park, which is to be home to future interesting recreational and ecotourism sites such as a Koi Pond and other fish nurseries, flower orchards, hatcheries, new raptor cages, huts and restaurants. There are also future sports sites and real estate areas under development handled by Noel B. Chavez Architects. Isn't that exciting for us since it is located within the city proper? We were told that visitors average more than four to five thousand in a week. The new park aims to double that quota when new facilities are constructed. When we were there, among the visitors were a group of Korean tourists on tour, and a family who have come all the way from South Cotabato. Now let me tell you how I fell in love with Carlo and Vivian. When Carlo saw me, the three-month old baby immediately reached his long hairy arms towards me and my heart melted. I took him away from his " nanny " caretaker and I carried him in my arms lovingly, as Ian and Rhon took turns taking photos of me and my handsome Romeo. Carlo was so loving I wanted to take him home. He nibbled on my ear, chin, kissed me on my lips, gently tugged at my hair, while I cuddled him in his Pampers. Vivian, on the other hand, is a beautiful snob. She does not want to be carried, but she lets herself be bottle-fed, while she bats eyelashes at you but watches you like a hawk. When I tried to tickle her belly, her orangutan foot grabbed my hand strongly, a sign that sternly says: STOP THAT. So I went back to Carlo, who was totally the opposite, as Ian, Rhon and the Koreans took turns carrying the new darling of the park for a pictorial. Text me if you want an MMS pic of Carlo. I am so besotted with the baby, that if you ever spot two figures strolling hand in hand on a pathway of Crocodile Park from a distance, that's just me and Carlo bonding so seriously like mother and son.
