Guest guest
Dear friends and colleges, Official Release today dated Dec.31 time 13.00 reported Phangnga 3,689 died (1,662 Thai 2,027 visitors) 5,598 injured (4,345 Thai 12,53 visitors) and 2,422 still missing. Krabi 395 died (141 Thai 88 visitors 166 unidentified) injured 3,269 (50 Thai 9 visitors 3, 210 unidentified) 1,913 still missing. Phuket 279 died (151 Thai 111 visitors 17 unidentified) 386 Thai, 225 visitors, and 661 unidentified nationality still missing. Ranong 165 Thai and 2 visitor died, while 189 Thai and 14 visitors injured with 16 missing. Trang 3 Thai 2 visitors died 57 Thai, 9 visitors, 46 unidentified are injured and 1 reported missing. Stool 6 Thai died and 15 missing. Television reported many pet and livestock animals left behind in Phuket and other remote islands without food. Animal owners either have to desert their pet or are now unemployed, and people who used to feed the strayed are no longer able to do so. Food supply and donation available are, unfortunately, only for human. Pets and strays are in more serious situation than livestock, because the effected sites are not agricultural areas. Thai AGA and the Wildlife Friend of Thailand (WFT) in Petchaburi will join together for animal rescue and human assistant in these area. The general plan is as followed: 1. Dog and cat food shall be acquired and distributed to pet owners and animal groups in effected areas. 2. Thai AGA and WFT rescue teams will search and rescue pets and wild animals stranded on islands and in other effected areas. 3. Our volunteer vet, one right now, will treat sick and injured animals as well as give veterinary attention and advise to the public. We hope to get more volunteer vets in the process. 4. More food and veterinary assistances may be needed after on site evaluations, in each area, by the Animal Rescue Teams are done. Note: This Animal Rescue and Disaster Relieve is operated by Thai AGA and WFT, in coordination with the Royal Thai Tourist Police and the Royal Thai Forestry Police, and is supported by the World Society for the Protection of Animals (WSPA). We recognize that animal rescue is considered part of the Disaster Relieve, and assistance to human will not be overlooked nor simplified. Those who wish to help or participate, and we hope you will, an emergency fund for this specific operation is crucial. Thai AGA mobile phone is 01-808-0769 and that of WFT is 09-546-1398. WFT's Office number is 032-458-135. The account number is below.
