Dear Madam/Sir,

I heard that there is a lone North American Timber wolf at Okinawa

Zoo and that this wolf is named Kei and is kept in a small and dismal

old fashioned

concrete enclosure.

I believe keeping a wolf in this type of environment is old fashioned

and cruel.

Japan is a rich, modern and progressive country and I can't understand

why the Japanese authorities allow the cruelty to continue of keeping

one lone wolf in an outdated concrete enclosure.

Apparently there is a wolf sanctuary in Colorado willing to give Kei a

home

so she can live out her life in an environment much better suited to her

needs.

Please act quickly to ensure that Kei is released to the wolf sanctuary

in

Colorado so she can live out her days with dignity and happiness.

It would be a kind, humane and compassionate act for the Japanese

authorities

to allow Kei to be sent to the wolf sanctuary in Colorado.

If one of the main reasons for keeping Kei captive in a small concrete

enclosure is so the public (including children) can see a live wolf,

this is a poor excuse

for cruelty.

People don't need a live captive animal to look at in these days of high

technology.

In fact the display of animals in outdated enclosures is an

embarrassment to

the humans who allow such a display to continue.

Okinawa Zoo might like to consider alternatives such as a photo-gallery

and interactive videos and sound for the public to enjoy or even a web

camera set up in an American sanctuary projected onto a big screen at

Okinawa Zoo using the internet instead.

It is very old fashioned thinking to believe one needs to keep an animal

in a cage so humans can see what it looks like.

I hope to receive a positive reply from you by return mail.

Kind regards,

Marguerite Thoresen
