Guest guest
Here is part of an email I received from an Australian working in Singapore. It seems as if rabbits are also at the bottom of the list with the Singapore SPCA and rabbits also end up on the streets there. Fwd..... I'm a resident of WA but I'm currently working in Singapore. I recently started volunteering for the HRS of Singapore (http://www.hrss.net) where I am a member, and I became a fosterer too. My foster bunny has just found a new home! I adopted my own 2 rabbits from the local SPCA. My friend actually found my two bunnies abandoned and before I could intervene, she dropped them off at SPCA (with abandonment numbers so high, our SPCA cannot maintain a no-kill shelter without the much-needed resources, so it would be very likely they have to be put down). My doe was actually pregnant, the poor girl, and she gave birth peacefully, surprising me with a littler of 4 survivors (one of them has no ears!). Since then, my 6 bunnies have been with me. Our problem in Singapore is quite evident. The animal rights movement here is very small and there is much needed education to be done for the plight of abandoned rabbits and pets in general. About 100 rabbits wind up in the streets on average per month and that is shocking for a country as small as Singapore.
