China to destroy tons of animal products smuggled from

Southeast Asia

BEIJING- China on Tuesday began, according to this

story, destroying more than 600 tons of animal

products smuggled across its borders with Southeast

Asia, amid heightened concern about the spread of

diseases through animals.

 

The Xinhua news agency was cited as saying that

authorities began burning dozens of tons of the

smuggled goods and will destroy the rest in the next

three days in Kunming, the capital of the southwestern

province of Yunnan which borders Myanmar and Vietnam.
