Dear Hong Kong Friends of Animals Asia,

We're about to launch an exciting new pilot programme in Hong Kong called

" Professor Paws " which will see visits to local Chinese primary schools with

English speaking volunteers and our animal therapy dogs for special English

classes, which focus on the values of kindness and compassion and

responsible pet care. The aim of the programme is to improve the language

skills of children in an effective and fun manner, whilst promoting another

positive example of the many ways that companion animals can enrich our

lives.

We are currently seeking native English speakers who enjoy working with dogs

and children to help out with these visits. Volunteers will be required to

commit to a minimum of 4 one hour lessons at an individual school in Hong

Kong. These lessons may take place over a 4, 8, or 12 week period and

locations are spread out around Hong Kong. Volunteers will be responsible

for their own travel costs, however where possible, volunteers and AAF staff

will travel together to minimise cost.

Animals Asia will provide activity worksheets for each lesson and volunteers

will be required to help children interact with the visiting dogs, whilst

assisting them to fill out the worksheets and learn a special " Pet Cadet "

song! All volunteers will be briefed prior to the visits.

If you would be interested in joining this programme, or know someone who

would be interested, please email me: asmillie or call the

office on: 2791-2225.

Warm wishes,

Anneleise
