Guest guest
DEAR ALL, THIS IS FROM A CONFIDENTIAL SOURCE IN THE FIELD, REGARDING THE SITUATION WITH THE THAI ORANGUTANS. ANY SUPPORT OR IDEAS YOU HAVE WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED. LETTERS TO THE THAI AUTHORITIES OR THE THAI AMBASSADOR OR CITES REP IN YOUR COUNTRY, CONTACTING THE PRESS, INFO ON WEBSITES, PETITIONS, LETTERS OF SUPPORT TO BOS AND THE INDONESIAN AUTHORITIES: ALL WOULD HELP I THINK... THANKS, MICHELLE Hi, It looks like it every day more and more that some people of the DNP (Department of National Parks, plants and wildlife) are trying everything to stop the rescue of the orangutans. All people at the Kasetsart University, the Forestry Police and we are ready for the test. The ministry of Foreign affairs has made it clear that when found illegally obtained the orangutans will be repatriated to Indonesia, and the police are ready to inspect the Indonesian side soonest possible. I feel it necessary to inform you all that until today however the DNP has not yet replied to the Forestry Police about the DNA check, and is holding up the process again. I am not aware of the reasons behind the continuing trouble, however I think we all have our idea about it. Please take notice of the fact that although the animals were confiscated by the Forestry Police, the DNP has still not acted and the animals are officially still not in their custody! Here for it is actually not legal yet to do the DNA test, as the DNP needs to approve of it as well. I can tell you that the police is very upset about the delay caused again, but they cannot do anything, and need pressure from outside. Question is what can we do to help out, and speed things up? We are getting close to CITES13 and we need the result before or at the conference!!! ===== __________ Too much spam in your inbox? Mail gives you the best spam protection for FREE! http://uk.mail.
