LOVING TOUCH: Laredo's children, Karli Rose and Riley John, playing with Molly and one of their pet rabbits at their home in Penang.PENANG: Although she has two children of her own, an Australian housewife here decided to join a fostering programme with a difference – the abandoned “babies†are puppies and kittens. Cheryl Laredo, 39, and her family are taking care of six-week-old Molly, an abandoned puppy under the new programme initiated by the Penang Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA). “We try not to get too attached to Molly as she will be returned to the SPCA once she is old enough to be vaccinated and put up for adoption next month. “This is ideal for us as we don't have a permanent home due to my husband's job as a Royal Australian Air Force officer,†she said at their Jalan Utama home yesterday.
