A very sad tale came across my desk a few days ago, but I have been unable to

find any information regarding this. I checked it on all the search engines, but

was unable to find any information regarding this. Perhaps some of you out there

will have more information regarding this cruelty. This needs to be pushed out

of the shadows into the light so the public can becomes as incensed as I became

when I hear about this.

From my understanding in some of the Southern States when an animal is to be

euthanized, it can be given away as a " bait dog " free of charge. This entails

taking the defenseless animals and tying it to the front of a boat in the event

of an alligator attack. The reasoning behind this is they will go after the dog,

and leave the people alone. They are using the excuses that this has been

tradition for a long time and culturally it is accepted by so many people. The

argument that is heard repeatedly is that the dogs were going to be put to sleep

anyway. This way they get to live a little longer. A lot longer if a gator

doesn't come after them. It is a horrible way to die but these same people

argue, " Would you rather have a dog die or a person? "

I don't know about any of you out there but I was not only horrified to hear of

this, but totally speechless.

Please if you can spread the word around, and see what we can do to get this

horrible cruelty and abuse stopped.
