Guest guest
IPPL was hoping to have a representative of Pro Fauna, Indonesia, speak at our Year 2004 Members' Meeting in South Carolina which takes place from 26-28 March 2004. The Pro Fauna employee obtained a passport and started work on her US visa. She was told that the earliest appointment at the US Embassy in Jakarta that she could have in regard to the visa was 18 May - well after the IPPL meeting is over. Has anyone had a similar experience? We had not yet purchased the ticket, fortunately. We had sent a letter confirming our invitation. Any US group planning to sponsor a speaker from any country whose nationals require visas to enter the US should be warned that eight weeks is no longer sufficient time. If you plan on coming to the US, and require a visa, start planning early. We are very disappointed about this, but fear there is no remedy. Pro Fauna sent excellent speakers to IPPL-2000 and IPPL-2002 and they will be missed. If anyone has any suggestions, please let us know.
