Guest guest Posted January 10, 2004 Report Share Posted January 10, 2004 PH D STUDENTSHIP OPPORTUNITY The Jambi Tiger Project The Zoological Society of London is looking for a suitable candidate to join an application for Research Council funding for a PhD studentship. The studentship will focus on the interactions between Sumatran tigers, their prey and the economics of the oil palm industry with the intention of minimising human-wildlife conflict. The position will be primarily based at the Jambi Tiger Project in Indonesia and will be part of an established and growing tiger research and conservation programme working in collaboration with a plantation in Sumatra. The terms of funding stipulate that the successful candidate will have, or is completing, a Masters degree in an environmental science and is a British national. Ideally they will also have experience of tropical fieldwork and / or South-east Asia and a strong background in one or more of the following areas; conservation biology, socio-economics, wildlife ecology and animal handling. Please note - funding is not guaranteed at this stage. We are simply seeking a strong candidate to head the application, due to be submitted in May.
