Hamilton\Burlington SPCA Ready to Break Guinness World Record

for " Karaoke Marathon - Multiple Participants " by 12 Hours

 

Hamilton, Ontario: From Thursday, January 29 through Monday, February

2, the Hamilton\Burlington SPCA will attempt to break the present

world record for " Karaoke Marathon - Multiple Participants " thereby

entering the Hamilton\Burlington SPCA and the City of Hamilton in the

Guinness World Records.

 

The record attempt will be held in the auditorium of the

Hamilton\Burlington SPCA, located at 245 Dartnall Road, Hamilton,

Ontario and is the first fundraiser of 2004.

 

Starting at 8 a.m., Thursday, January 29, a team of 10 karaoke

jockeys and karaoke singers from throughout the community will sing

continuously except for a maximum 30 second pause between songs and a

15 minute break every four hours.

 

Karaoke singers will have more than 10,000 songs to choose from.

 

In accordance with Guinness World Record Rules:

 

 

· No piece of music will be repeated in performance within two hours.

A song list of all the items performed will be maintained.

· Apart from pauses lasting no more than 30 seconds between tunes,

singing will be continuous.

· There will be a screen visible by the participants which display

the lyrics to the song.

· Singing will be performed into a microphone.

· A break every 15 minutes will be taken after every four hours from

the beginning of the event.

 

The present World Record was organized by Mark Pearson (UK), the

karaoke marathon at the Keighley Festival, Keighley, West Yorkshire,

UK, featured 85 different acts and continued for 80 hours between

June 14 - 18, 2003.

 

In addition to the 10 karaoke jockeys and karaoke singers, on hand

will be 2 spare karaoke systems and a karaoke technician will be on

call throughout the event.

 

It is expected that the present world record will be broken at

approximately 11 p.m., Sunday, February 1.

 

This record attempt will be webcast live via audio and video thought

the broadcast facilities of PetRadioNet.com and SPCARadio.net, which

are located at the Hamilton\Burlington SPCA.

 

Throughout the record breaking event, the Hamilton\Burlington SPCA

will be selling event t-shirts, photographs of participating singers,

beverages and snacks and other merchandise to help raise money.

 

All funds raised by this event will go into the ANGEL MIRACLE FUND,

which is used specifically for the treatment of animals which come

into our care as a direct result of animal cruelty.

 

The namesake of the ANGEL MIRACLE FUND, " ANGEL " the white German

Shepherd, who had a leg amputated in December 2003, and " TAZ " the

Golden Lab puppy who required reconstructive orthopedic surgery days

before Christmas will be making scheduled special appearances

throughout the event.

 

We are asking members of the community to help and participate in

this record breaking event as singers, judges, timekeepers or
