AS reported in The Star (Dec 20), Shangri-la Hotel’s Shang Palace has an Imperial Menu that offers items like “steamed live giant Lybird” and “steamed live garoupa”. Does this mean that the chef steams the bird and the fish while they are still alive? Or is it a case of misused English, and what the hotel means is that the bird is slaughtered just before it is cooked and the fish taken out of the tank and allowed to expire before it is steamed? I hope, for the sake of those who are averse to cruelty to living beings, that Shangri-la Hotel will clarify. – Animal lover, Petaling Jaya <p> ________________________ Your one-stop information portal: The Star Online http://thestar.com.my http://biz.thestar.com.my http://classifieds.thestar.com.my http://cards.thestar.com.my http://search.thestar.com.my http://star-motoring.com http://star-space.com http://star-jobs.com http://star-ecentral.com http://star-techcentral.com 1995-2003 Star Publications (Malaysia) Bhd.
