SOS Animals, a non-profit stray animal rescue centre, is offering a $1,000 reward for information on their deaths. Miss Sandy Lim, a 49-year-old businesswoman, found the bodies near an unmanned security post on the island. She had gone there to pick up strays for adoption. Ms Lim is the founder of SOS Animals. The bodies were too decomposed to determine if death was by drowning or if the puppies were killed before they were put into the water. The puppies were four to five months old, said Miss Deirdre Moss, executive officer of the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA), which carried out the postmortem. Under the Animals and Birds Act, anyone found guilty of cruelty to animals or of abandoning their pets faces a fine of up to $10,000 and up to a year's jail. Ms Lim also found two other male puppies, which she thinks may be the dead dogs' siblings. They are now in her care, and are available for adoption. Anyone with information about the puppies' deaths or who wishes to adopt the two male puppies can call Ms Lim on 9455-1588.
