Guest guest
Opinion Island Tuesday 30th September -- Cruelty to animals I am writing to you about the plight of street animals in Sri Lanka. I urge you to abolish the barbaric practice of electrocuting and gassing stray dogs, and instead to implement a neutering and spaying policy. Also of concern is the illegal capture of porcupines. These creatures are captured from the mountains and are chained to metal poles for tourists to see. The animals show signs of stress by pacing backwards and forwards. They are left out in the hot sun with no water to drink. I would like to remind you that British tourists do not wish to see animals being mistreated while on holiday. Therefore, I urge you to end the pain and distress of street animals.
