INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM ON ANIMAL WELFARE

 

IN BEIJING, CHINA, 23-27

 

AUGUST 2004

 

 

In conjunction with the International Zoological Conference (IZC) to be held

in Beijing, China from 23-27 August 2004, I am planning to organize the

first symposium on animal welfare to be held at the IZC along with the

International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW) in Beijing. The website for the

IZC is www.icz.ioz.ac.cn. If you are interested would you please send me

your name, address, phone/fax numbers, and a title and short abstract (100

words or less) of your proposed presentation or poster. *Please do not send

attachments - please paste information in your message.* Currently there is

no financial support but that might change. Please let me know if you will

require financial support. This truly is a remarkable opportunity to put

forth and to discuss important ideas about animal protection in education,

research, zoos, and conservation. I visited China in November 2003 and met

many wonderful and very enthusiastic people who are eager to help animals. I

will need your proposals by 15 October 2003. There will be about 10-15 oral

presentations of about 15 minutes each and 10 posters. There will be ample

time for discussion and to meet researchers and others from more than 40

countries. Already more than 200 people from numerous countries have signed

up for the conference. I will review proposals along with representatives
