Guest guest Posted August 7, 2003 Report Share Posted August 7, 2003 UPDATE : 10 Horses Seized By Hamilton\Burlington SPCA Last Week Now Trotting Down Road Of Recovery Wednesday, August 6, 2003 Hamilton, Ontario: The 10 Peruvian walking horses that were seized by the Hamilton\Burlington SPCA on Wednesday, July 30th, according to SPCA Animal Protection Officer Vivian LaFlamme, " look great! " The 10 horses, 2 with fold, were seized from an address on Book Road in Ancaster by the Hamilton\Burlington SPCA after receiving information from the Hamilton Police Services. The horses were taken to an undisclosed Ancaster location where they have treated, fed, boarded and are recovering. The owner of the horses has been served with a " cost of removal " and has until Saturday, August 9th., at 5 p.m. to pay. The " cost of removal " includes the horses blood work, de-worming, vaccinations, veterinary treatment, boarding, and transportation. Animal Protection Officer Vivian LaFlamme said that charges under the Criminal Code of Canada are still pending in this case. The cruelty to animal offence carries a maximum penalty of two years in jail, a fine of up to $60,000 or both.
