Please crosspost to every individual/group you know.

Thanks!

I spoke with several media reps. last week, for the

purpose of getting these demonstrations in the news.

They have logged in my call about this, but we will

need to send letters to the media today, and tomorrow.

I was told to send the letters specifically on these

days. Please take the time to send the sample letter

below, or write your own.

We also need to bombard the Korean Government, and

Korean National tourism org/travel bureau. I have

included sample letters below, for the media, the

Korean Government and the tourism orgs. Please, please

send letters. Many dogs, and cats suffer tremendous

pain both mentally, and physically in Korea.

If you aren't aware of this tragedy, please go to:

Korea Animal Protection Society (KAPS)

International Aid for Korean Animals (IAKA)...

(Which are orgs. founded and run by Koreans, to help

these animals)

http://www.koreananimals.org/index.htm

and check it out. If you haven't been there, because

you can't stand to see the horror these animals

suffer, please don't allow the animals to suffer for

it.

To easily send an email to the media in your state,

please go to:

http://www.congress.org/congressorg/dbq/media/

Click on your state. On this site you can send an

Updated World Demo Day Announcement

Please send the following to News media (TV stations &

Newspapers,) in your area. Make sure you included

the Demo schedule, below it.

-----------------------------

-----------------------------

On Wednesday July 16th, the following countries will

hold a World Demonstration for the plight of

Korean Dogs and cats. I would like you to add my name,

to your many viewers/readers who are

asking for media coverage of this event. I noticed

that the last World demonstration didn't get the

media coverage that even less important events get.

Please do not disappoint your viewers by

ignoring this request.

Below is the introduction, and a list of Countries,

locations, and contacts, that will participate.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

WORLD DEMONSTRATION DAY

JULY 16, 2003

Contact: Kyenan Kum, iaka @ koreananimals.org (remove

spaces) (510) 271-6795

Bok Days are the hottest days of the year in Korea.

They are also the days in which the greatest number of

dogs are consumed. Some Koreans believe that eating

dog-meat stew will alleviate the summer heat, in

addition to increasing a man’s sexual prowess. While

this season spans 30 days, only three days are

designated Bok Days; this year they fall on July 16th,

(the beginning of the season) July 26th, and August

15th.

We need as many people to support these demonstrations

against dog-eating as we can get! Each year over 2.6

million dogs and hundreds of thousands of cats are

tortured and killed for human consumption. Korean dog

eaters believe that the more a dog suffers, the more

tender and sexually potent the meat. Korea’s 1991

Animal Protection Law makes it illegal to harm or

abuse dogs, cats and all other animals, and yet the

Korean government does nothing to stop these

atrocities. With our show of international force, we

will lobby the Korean government for stronger,

enforceable animal protection laws that will protect

companion animals from being eaten.

If you are curious about how our demonstrations

operate, please see www.koreananimals.org/update.htm

for examples. You can also download flyers for the

demonstrations from the same page.

Please join us on July 16th for our annual Bok Days

protests! All demos start at noon, unless otherwise

noted.

Please choose one or both of the letters below. Change

them a little if you can, or write your own. Send to

the President w/cc to the rest.

Thank you for helping these suffering animals!

==========SAMPLE LETTER #1 ============

Dear Mr. President,

I have chosen to send the following letter as it

expresses my feeling about this issue. Please accept

this as a letter

petition.

I am writing to voice my outrage, at the viciously

cruel treatment of dogs and cats in Korea. In America,

the Government has studied the connection of cruelty

to animals, and cimes against humans, and has found a

very clear link.

By allowing this barbaric practice to continue,

Korea has become a country of shame, and the world is

wondering what kind of people can sanction the

viciousness of such cruelty, on these defensless

animals. Korea will be known as a country of butchers

and animal abusers!

The world is watching Mr. President, and hoping that

Korea will step into the twenty first century, free of

the shame of being a cruel nation.

A very wise man, Mahatma Ghandi, once said;

" The moral progress of a nation can be judged by the

way it treats its animals. "

Unfortunately, Korea's disregard for the suffering of

it's animals, portrays a country that is morally

deficient!

Mr President, I am well aware of the games that the

Korean Government has been playing with it's citizens,

and the caring people who have been writing in

condemnation of the cruelty of dog, and cat eating in

your country! This behaviour does nothing to gain the

respect of the citizens of the World. On the

contrary, it is a clear indication, of a nation who

has no respect for life.

I do not accept Korea's feeble attempts, to hide it's

true intentions, to continue to make animals suffer!

Therefore, I will boycott Korean imports, businesses,

and tourism trade, and I will ask everyone I know to

do the same, until Korea stops all torture and killing

of dogs and cats!

Sincerely,

========SAMPLE LETTER #2==========

Dear Sir:

I have chosen to send the following letter as it

expresses my feeling about this issue. Please accept

this as a letter

petition.

For some time now disturbing reports have come from

Korea of non-enforcement of the 1991 Animal Protection

Law with respect to the killing and eating of dogs and

cats.

Reportedly, millions of dogs and thousands of cats are

killed in Korea by torture every year. The most

painful ways imaginable are used, since the general

belief is that the meat will then impart sexual

stamina.

Videotaped evidence of torture of these animals shows

dogs being beaten and then blowtorched as they slowly

hanged to death. Cats were beaten with a hammer and

then boiled alive. Whereas no

information is kept on cats, statistics from the

Korean Ministry of Agriculture indicate that some two

to three million dogs per year are killed in this

manner for consumption.

Americans are outraged by these atrocities, as are

civilized people of all nations. In these countries,

the killing of animals for food is generally

considered a " necessary " evil. Lip service, at least,

is given to the desire to accomplish it as quickly and

humanely as possible.

Yet in Korea, the deliberate intention is to cause

suffering, since the adrenaline released by the animal

is thought to enhance aphrodisiacal powers of the

meat.

Stopping this barbarous practice would forever erase

the idea so many of us now have of Korea as a nation

of dog- and cat-eaters--a degrading and unfair image

of your country. I urge you to do your utmost to right

this wrong.

I will boycott Korean imports, businesses, and tourism

trade. I will ask everyone I know to do the same,

until Korea stops all torture and killing of dogs and

cats!

Sincerely yours,
