Animals Asia pushes for change in the wake of SARS

Dear Friends of Animals Asia,

As SARS began spreading in Asia, many animal species were caught up in a

rumour mill of blame - until recent reports showed that the virus MAY be

connected to 3 wild species widely for sale in China's cruel animal

markets - markets that the Animals Asia team have been documenting for

years.

Whilst a definite conclusion has yet to be reached, Animals Asia has been

working hard to dispel the myths, reduce the risk of new disease AND help

the animals themselves by appealing for the closure of these animal

markets once and for all.

With the help and support of influential Legislator Dr. David Chu Yu-lin and

with conservation and welfare groups in Hong Kong, Animals Asia proposed a

groundbreaking resolution on Wednesday 28th May making a strong plea for the

Chinese Government to close the notorious animal markets countrywide and to

end not only the consumption of wild animals - but of dogs and cats too!

Please read our most recent press releases at:

Please pass this message to as many people as possible in support of joining

and funding Animals Asia and helping us in our goal of ending decades of

cruelty and disease in China.

Warm wishes,

Annie
