Japan Vegetarian Week 2003

The executive board in May agreed holding first nationwide vegetarian week

in Japan.¡¡

The proposal was discussed in this ML in last February, and now began to

move towards realization.

 

Points agreed are as follows.

Period ¡§

Being associated with Kenji Miyazawa's work ¡ÈGrand Vegetarian Festival

¡È,

the period is set in the duration from Sunday to Sunday which holds

September 4 ,the date of festival held in the tale.

The week of 2003 will date from August 31 to September 7.

Vegetarian Week 2003 ( main title )

Kenji Miyazawa memorial ( shoulder title )

Japan Vegetarian Week 2003¡¡(in English )

Zenkoku Vegetarian shuukan¡¡(another name meaning national vegetarian week

in Japanese pronunciation)

 

Budget ¡§

Mainly raise contribution, collect sponsorship, and JPVS also provides

50,000 yen.

 

What to do (planning so far) ¡§

PR Campaign by JPVS, regional events by member group.

We are starting to organize preparatory group and set up a mailing-list for

discussion by Mr. Matsuo ( secretary-general of JPVS ), Ms. Aya Kitagawa

( secretariat assistance , Kansai ) , Ms. Hiroko Kato ( director , Kanto ) ,

Mr. Katsuhiro Shimizu ( Kanto ) , and Yoshihiko Miyazawa ( Hokkaido ), and

just began talks .

Although presentation on this proposal are due to be introduced in the

occasion of the general meeting on the 24th May, in advance of it , inviting

staff , cooperator , and idea , various appeals etc. are encouraged also in

the mailing list .
