Dear friends,

thanks for sending the protest letter to Nanjing

government. My email did not come back to me, meaning

the email address worked, however some of your emails

came back to you. They may have removed the email

address due to many protest letters. Please do not be

discouraged if your email came back to you. Send a

When you send an email to the above address, please

try to send a copy to a media of your choice as well

as Chinese embassy in your area. That way even if they

block your email or change their email address, it

will still reach the media and the embassy.

You can find a lot of media contact details in your

own country from the below link.

I copy and paste the sample letter again below.

Thanks everyone. Yoon

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am writing to you hearing upon an extremely

disturbing news that you are killing dogs in your city

as a measure of stopping the spread of SARS virus.

Apparently your method of killing is extremely cruel,

which makes everyone think that you are blaming the

poor innocent dogs for the spread of SARS. I hope you

will understand that the world has watched China with

astonishment and horror for the measures it has been

taking to stop the spread of the illness. You take

away people’s beloved pets away from SARS patients’

home and kill them off without any consideration for

the feelings of these people. In addition, you are

killing street dogs.

If anything is responsible for the SARS virus, do you

realise it is China’s total lack of respect for animal

welfare? China has allowed people to consume its

treasured wild life along with dogs and cats, animals

which are so dear to many people’s hearts. You have

allowed animal markets to operate where the cruelty to

animals were beyond belief. When people and animal are

put into extremely stressful situation, their immune

system becomes weak and the danger of developing a

strange virus may become a serious reality under these

conditions. Instead of examining the obsession with

fresh meat and the belief that eating companion

animals and exotic animals bring health benefit, China

has decided that it will punish people who have

affection for their animals. These people are the only

people who improve the image of your country in the

eyes of the world.

The action which China should take and the world

expect it to take is to close down all the breeding

facilities of dogs for meat, stop the consumption of

exotic wild life and companion animals, and to close

down all the animal markets. I urge you to take the

right course of the action and stop this senseless

slaughter of innocent animals immediately. It is

people who are spreading the virus at the moment and

not the dogs.

Yours truly,

Dogs brighten our life with their gift to love and bond. It is our turn to help

our dogs. Please help organisations who are fighting to get dogs out of food

chain.
