Sun, 11 May 2003 19:39:38 +0800 (CST) SOS!!!Save dogs at Nanjing, China Dear Sir or Madam, We are a group of animal protection volunteers at Nanjing city in China. We need your urgent help. As you know, the SARS virus now is prevailing in China. With an excuse of stopping the spread of the virus, Nanjing municipal government issues an order to kill innocent dogs. The police force are ordered to kill all homeless dogs or dogs without a license in May. There are 101 detachments sent out to chase and execute dogs at each corner of the city. During such short period from May 4 to now, countless dogs were executed with extremely cruel means. The police use iron chain, iron stick, knife or gun to torture and execute dogs, even the pregnant ones, without any mercy. We feel very angry with this extremely cruel behavior and made many protest against it. However since there are no animal protection law in China, and people are not allowed to set up animal protection organizations, our voice is too low to help the poor dogs, the close friends of human being. At this moment, we need help from your organization and people who have mercy all around the world. Please lodge protest against Nanjing municipal government with soonest ways.
