Guest guest
import of dog and cat fur - sample letter Sample letter : import of dog and cat fur Mr. David Byrne Commissioner for Health and Consumer Protection The European Commission Rue de la Loi 200 B-1049 Brussels E mail : david.byrne Dear Mr Byrne, We like to express our concern about the import and trade of domestic dog- and cat fur, skins and products made of dog- and cat fur in Europe. A report of the Humane Society of the USA revealed this cruel and largely secretive/under cover business. Every year millions of dogs and cats are slaughtered for this cruel trade. The slaughter process is horrific, on more than one occasion investigators saw animals being skinned while still alive. The skins and products are exported to the USA and Europe but as the USA banned the import of these products we have indications that the Asian export is now focused on Europe. Investigators already found products in Western European shops made of dog and cat skin. Their report showed us that it is almost impossible for the consumers to know what they are buying as the labeling is wrong, non-existing or deceptive. Please stop this consumer fraud, people in Europe do not want to buy products made of dogs and cats and therefore we kindly ask you to ban the import of dog and cat skins and products in Europe and to forbid the trade in these products. Furthermore it is also unacceptable that from the “animal welfare point of view “ this trade is allowed in the EU. Millions of European animal lovers will be grateful that this business will be halted in Europe so that millions of dogs and cats can be saved in Asia. Yours Sincerely, Signature Name address Yolande
