Guest guest
Exposed pet fur trade, they have the evidence now Good morning everyone, This morning I bought a news paper called the DAILY MAIL (Friday May 9) because their front page head line was: SCANDAL OF THE FUR COAT MADE FROM 42 ALSATIAN PUPPIES and next to the text is a huge picture of a model wearing this fur coat made of Alsatian puppies which is now on sale for 1000 Pounds in Berlin. On page 10 and 11 is a whole article concerning the exposed pet fur trade. The pictures a heartbreaking. The article is incredible. They mention that cats and dogs in Belgium are allegedly being killed to make coats, blankets and the linings of gloves and ski boots. They say it is a multi-million pound business. Items found on sale include a blanket made out of the coats of four golden retrievers in Copenhagen and a full-length coat made from the skins of 42 Alsatian puppies in Berlin! They say most come from China, where two million animals a year are barbarically slaughtered. But MEP Struan Stevenson yesterday revealed evidence that some is from the EU (a lot of stolen pets). Undercover investigators from the Humane Society International visited three Belgian dealers who openly sell cat-fur blankets and coats. They secretly filmed as they paid 220 pounds for a blanket made of 12 cat skins. The article by David Jones is quite big, so I can not type everything over, but he did mention that many pets are being stolen for this fur industry and the processing of a cat skin. Of course I have a very special bond with dogs and cats (my pets are like my children), but we shouldn't forget all the other beautiful animals killed for the fur industry. Maybe if woman, celebrities etc would know that many furs are made out of our pets it will make them think twice before buying another fur coat. Another article about cat and dog fur trade from the BBC World News: Source: BBC News Online: <http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/3009537. <http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/3009537.stm>stm <http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/3009537.stm>> ** Cats 'farmed for skins in EU' ** The BBC finds indications of a thriving industry farming cats for fur in the EU - contrary to official assertions.
