Beijing vendor guarantees fresh dog meat with

on-the-spot butchering

BEIJING - A strip of Beijing sidewalk has become the

scene of an unusually bloody show recently, as a dog

meat vendor has started butchering his animals in

front of potential customers, state media said

Tuesday.

 

The vendor, who kills his dogs with a swift stab to

the neck, has adopted the new business tactic to

convince people that the meat they buy is absolutely

fresh, the Beijing Youth Daily reported.

 

Some customers appear reassured by the practice, which

is advertised with a huge bill board saying ``We Kill

Dogs On-the-Spot'' in front of the cage holding the

animals.

 

Others are worried about the impact the gory scenes

may have on children and people who cannot stand the

sight of blood, or are so disgusted they have lost

their appetite for dog meat, the paper said.

 

Even if it helps the vendor make more money,

slaughtering animals in public is not legal, whether

the victims are poultry or dogs, according to the
