Stop work

AFTER reading your article Marine park in distress (StarTwo, April 15), I wonder

why the destruction of the marine park is allowed by the Department of

Environment (DOE) despite the fact that our Prime Minister had hit out at

irresponsible, greedy developers.

The DOE had conveniently allowed the construction of the 212-room resort with

quad-sharing rooms. With full occupancy the resort can cater to 848 people.

Marine park resorts should be of low density development to preserve the

ecologically rich but sensitive areas.

One cannot help but wonder why some resorts are being punished harshly whereas

others owned by wealthy families with connections are given TOL lands by the

state government in record time.

To preserve the marine ecosytem, the resort should be stopped from carrying out

further construction until it has complied with the necessary requirements.
