Guest guest
For some groups this is an off topic subject, but important non the less. (Yarmouthport, MA - 17 April 2003) - As images of desperate lions and tigers in Baghdad's abandoned zoo flash across TV screens around the globe, the world's leading animal welfare organization is taking immediate action to assist with their care and rescue. The International Fund for Animal Welfare (www.ifaw.org <http://www.ifaw.org>) has today announced a US$25,000 emergency fund for this urgent mission. Media reports from Iraq indicate that several big cats have been left to starve at Baghdad zoo, while many other animals have been looted from the facility. Also, there have been reports that wild animals that were kept as pets by the Hussein family have been abandoned and are in desperate need of care. IFAW will be coordinating its efforts with the World Society for the Protection of Animals (WSPA), which is already working on the ground with local experts to ensure that the animals get care as soon as possible. The US$25,000 emergency IFAW funding will go directly to the team on the ground to provide veterinary care, animal feed, and other vital support. full story: http://www.enn.com/direct/display-release.asp?objid=D1D1364B000000F49D4A19AE572A\ 5DB4 -- Take sides.
