I support your effort to try to stop the habit of

eating dogs and cats! by Edward Jurewicz

Dear Friends of Dogs

I absolutely agree with you that the habit of eating

dogs should be stopped immediately! It is vital that

it stops as soon as possible! The longer Asian people

treat dogs and cats as food rather than as pets - the

more dogs and cats will needlessly suffer.

As you are well aware - in the West, dogs and cats are

considered to be human's best friends. To stop the

practice of eating these animals is vital not only for

those highly intelligent creatures, but also in order

to maintain good human relations between the Western

hemisphere and Asia.

Unfortunately, many Western people become hostile

towards Asians in general upon learning about the

practice of raising and KILLING (in a very cruel

fashion) the animals the Westerners regard as their

beloved pets. If the panda bears were raised in

Western farms or zoos and skinned alive or blow

torched to death and then eaten by white men - I am

sure that a lot of Chinese people would feel extremely

offended.

Thus, I believe that for the unity and understanding

among all nations - Asians ought to abandon killing

and eating dogs and cats. I do sincerely hope that

some day human beings will come to understand that ALL

animals are our friends, and as George Bernard Shaw

said - we shouldn't eat our friends...

Nevertheless, first things must come first. Eating

dogs and cats is not necessary! Contrary to the

popular (in Asia) belief - it is not healthy! Meat of

carnivorous animals contains a great deal more toxins

than meat of vegetarian animals. Killing dogs and cats

in a cruel fashion by beating them slowly to death, or

boiling alive - is (in the eyes of almost all

Westerners and many Asians) simply BARBARIC.

I have a beautiful and highly intelligent Korean " meat

dog " at home. The dog's name is Kiddo. So far, Kiddo

has been admired by literally hundreds of people - in

both Europe and in Canada - where we presently reside.

Hundreds of people have asked me where he was from,

what breed he was, etc. Every time I am asked such

questions I say that he is a Korean meat dog! " Really!

Oh, my God! What kind of crazy people are they?! " - is

the usual response. Of course I try to explain that

Korean people on the whole are very compassionate,

friendly and tolerant. But... the feeling of anger

against Koreans and other Asian people remains...

Since my wife is Canadian-Asian - the negative image

of Asians hurts me directly!... Nevertheless I can't

hide the fact that my dog would have been most likely

beaten to death and consumed - some 2 and a half years

ago - had he not been lucky enough to be bought out of

this cruel fate.

Sincerely - Edward Jurewicz

Dogs brighten our life with their gift to love and bond. It is our turn to help

our dogs. Please help organisations who are fighting to get dogs out of food

chain.
