Hong Kong Media Assistant

 

Position Objective:

To manage and coordinate PETA's media work throughout Asia as assigned by

the Asia Representative.

Term of Employment:

Full-time

Reports to:

Asia representative

Primary Responsibilities and Duties:

* Coordinate and manage a media plan and an agenda for issues

that can be released in Asia.

* Organize and maintain a database of Chinese celebrities

* Draft and mail letters to celebrities and others as needed

* Organize and regularly update an Asia media database

* Review releases from other PETA offices and advise on

effectiveness in Asia

* Develop ideas to increas celebrity involvment in animal

issues

* Send out news releases (with Asia Representative), make

follow up and pitch calls to the media, and work to keep PETA's campaigns in

the media spotlight.

* Coordinate translating of materials as needed

* Coordinate the production of Chinese versions of other PETA

ads

* Communicate with media outlets around the country,

encouraging them to run stories by providing them PETA materials (ads,

exclusives, etc).

* Assist with demonstrations or photo shoots when needed

* Direct media calls to the correct person

* Travel when necessary for meetings, demonstrations or other

activities.

* Perform any other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications:

* Outgoing and personable manner with exceptional

communication skills.

* Excellent writing skills.

* Fluent in both English and Cantonese.

* Patience when dealing with media.

* Proven thorough knowledge of all animal rights issues.

* Support for PETA's philosophy and the ability to

professionally advocate PETA's positions on issues.

* Ability and willingness to travel, if necessary.

* Computer proficiency.

* Commitment to the objectives of the organization.

* Previous activist experience a plus.
