Guest guest
I received this email. If anyone knows anything about this issue (rabbit show jumping), please let me know. I guess all manner of weird rabbit stories are being dredged up by aspiring journalists for Easter (sigh). Fwd. " I work for ****. Anyway, we're doing a very small piece on rabbit show-jumping, which happens in the US, Switzerland and, to a much smaller extent, the UK. We have photos of this in Britain - the rabbit literally hops over a show-jump, much like horses do. Incredible. Anyway, I was wondering whether or not we have something similar in Australia? Or a similar competitions here? Anyway, if you could get back to me with this information, that would be greatly appreciated. My phone number is ****** Reply ++I don't know of any similar events in Australia. I don't think it is a good idea to introduce rabbit " show jumping " here anyway. I am opposed to " showing " rabbits. All animals should be given the dignity of being accepted for what they are. Judging any animal species on length of coat, length of ears or by color is just plain specieist. After all we don't judge humans like this do we? The only comparable " sports? " to rabbit show jumping would be show jumping using horses (horses don't have a say in whether they want to be used like this anyway) or humans jumping hurdles (at least humans have a choice in whether to participate or not). It's a shame that some humans can't enjoy the company of other species without making that species (in this case rabbits) do something (ie forced jumping), isn't it? Kind regards, Marguerite
