Please also contact Greyhound Action if you would like a printed version of the petition form for those without e-mail access to sign. If you need more information with regard to this issue, or greyhoundprotection in general, visit the Greyhound Action website at www.greyhoundaction.co.uk JUSTICE FOR THE DEAD IRISH GREYHOUNDS AFTER AGREEING TO ACCEPT AND REHOME GREYHOUNDS FROM DOG RESCUE IRELAND(DRI), P.A.D.S (PERTHSHIRE ABANDONDED DOG SOCIETY) HAD FOUR HEALTHY YOUNGDOGS PUT TO SLEEP (IN APRIL 2002) JUST THREE WEEKS AFTER THEY ARRIVED.THESE DOGS HAD EXCELLENT TEMPERAMENTS, HAD BEEN LOVINGLY RESCUED, CARED FORIN A HOME ENVIRONMENT AND WERE PICKED ESPECIALLY AS THEY WOULD QUICKLY FINDNEW HOMES, SO WORK COULD CONTINUE WITH PADS TO HELP MANY MORE DOGS.Heidi Beerensson of PADS claims " PADS do not, and never have, destroyed anyanimal unless forced to do so " - therefore does PADS believe that any healthydog that requires to be muzzled temporarily, for it's own safety and that ofother animals, has no quality of life and should be destroyed?Exactly how many dogs do PADS destroy each year?In view of the above, how many of these dogs die needlessly? If Mrs Stewart felt unable to cope why did she not contact Mrs Wright (DRIorganiser) or indeed any of the many other greyhound associations all ofwhom would have been willing to give advice and, if necessary, remove thedogs to a safe haven?Prior to her position at PADS, what qualifications and experience did MrsStewart have enabling her to make professional assessments about the dog'stemperaments, socialization needs and suitability for re-homing?Mrs Stewart has a full time position and lives on site, yet the kennel isonly open part time hours, would it not be in the dogs' best interests forthe opening times to he changed and potential owners not to be turned awaybecause they are a few minutes late? The four dogs had never been on a racetrack in their lives, so MrsBeerensson's and Mrs Storm's (PADS legal advisor) various excuses pertainingto this are all rubbish - but did they at any point take into considerationthe damage they may have caused by making statements to the press to thepress such as " ...the danger these dogs presented to small children andcertainly to smaller animals.. " Are they not aware that thousands of ex-racing greyhounds make thesuccessful transition into family homes each year?WHY WAS THE DECISION TO DESTROY FOUR HEALTHY YOUNG ANIMALS MADE BY ONEPERSON?SURELY A DECISION AS GREAT AS THIS SHOULD INVOLVE A FULL COMMITTEE MEETINGWITH EVERY SINGLE OTHERALTERNATIVE POSSIBLE DISCUSSED AND PUT INTO ACTION.DUE TO THIS CASUAL DISREGARD FOR LIFE. WE THE UNDERSIGNED ARE OUTRAGED ANDWANT ANSWERS. 1) Tony Peters, Kidderminster, England 2) Louise Peters, Kidderminster, England 3) Catherine Phillips, Kidderminster, England 4) Raven Haze, London, England 5) Chrissy Walker, London, England 6) John Hughes, London, England 7) Frank O'Toole, London, England
