Fur demo in Hong Kong

Dear Activist,

This is a reminder that on Friday, February 28, PETA and local activists

will protest the 2003 Hong Kong Fur Fair. We'll be dressed as " Cave

People " and will hold a banner that reads, " Only Cave People Wear Fur. "

Please let me know if you can join us in the protest as a cave person,

or if you're not comfortable participating in the protest, if you can

come for support, to take photos, or help in any other way. The event

will be at 12 noon sharp on the 28th at Sogo Department Store where Wee

Yo St. and Great George Street meet. I hope you can make it. Why the

fuss over fur? Hong Kong is the second largest exporter of fur after

Greece. Fur is ranched on the mainland, brought into Hong Kong for

manufacture, and then exported. Mink is the most common animal killed

for fur and the standard method of killing mink is breaking the animals'

necks while they're still fully conscious. In addition, the Humane

Society of the United States investigated and exposed the international

fur industry's ugly secret: the widespread slaughter of companion

animals-domestic dogs and cats-for the manufacture of clothing,

accessories, and trinkets. For more information, please visit

www.FurIsDead.com <http://www.furisdead.com/> and

http://www.hsus.org/ace/12014. Thank you and I look forward to meeting

you or seeing you again!

P.S. If you cannot join us for the demonstration, but would like to join

us for dinner, please let me know. We will tentatively be dining the

Thursday evening, the 27th at Kung Tak Lam Shanghai Vegetarian Cuisine

31 Yee Wo Street, Causeway Bay. Tel: 2890-3127.
